THIBAULT Gilles (TIBO)
Born 18 July 1951 in Nicolet Québec.
As a youngster this writer, cartoonist and illustrator wanted to draw.
By age 18 years he published his first book of cartoons. His cartoon strip “Lunambule” appeared in Le Jour [Québec] circa 1974. It was collected into a book by Les Éditions Berneche in 1979.

He has worked on material for CROC and Prism. He has illustrated posters, and covers for records, books and magazines.
In 1975, he began producing children’s books, and has created several remarkable series: Simon, for Tundra Press; Pikolo for Annick Press; Clementine for Michel Quintin Publishers and Noémie published in France by Éditions Québec-Amerique.
His books have been published in Japanese, Norwegian and bilingual Chinese/English editions. He won a Governor Gernerals Award in 1992 for Simon et la ville de carton, and in 1996 for The Secret of Madame Lumbago, the Owl Prize in Japan for Simon an
